For the Love of Art

4x4's were done for the Valentine Swap on the yahoo Group for the Love of Art. I also did the St. Paddy's day pages for next month as I won't be here to send them off. Brenda (the hostess) said she would hold them for me and distribute in March. Thank you Brenda.

Creative Embellishment Challenge

Here's a first attempt for me. I made these ATC's for the 4/4 ATC Creative Embellishment Swap on The Latest Trends in Mixed Media Group. The beads were made from wrapping inked paper towels (from the Shinning Stones backgrounds earlier) around a knitting needle and glue and then wrapped with wire. (This was quite messy and the needle won't be used for knitting anytime soon) The backgrounds are an ATC sized piece of cardstock with fabric glued to it. I used pearl ex mixed in Crystal laquer to add a bit of shimmer and then stamped with a flourish. The fiber strip is a piece of pipe cleaner wrapped with fibers.

Glue Resist Background Technique

LinkThese are my results for the Glue Resist Background Technique for NGS and Trish Bee. I used Aleene's tacky glue and color box pigment cat's eye ink pads. I spread the glue all over a piece of cardstock with a 'fake' credit card. Next, I took the credit card and cut out triangles which left a 'forked' edge (as shown in Trish's Tutorial). I used the forked edge to create the designs in the glue and let them dry over night. For the next step, I used the ink pad to spread ink over the entire page and then used a paper towel to remove the ink from the dried glue. I think next time I need to use less glue and make smaller backgrounds. These were done on half sheets. The next step is to add these to my Background Techniques journal along with the directions. I will probably not be able to get to that step until after our trip to Antartica. I'm trying to finish up all the swaps and other challenges before leaving so some things will have to wait. Thank for looking. I love any comments. Oops, I just noticed, I forgot to do the second technique. I will if I have time before I go but me thinks it isn't going to happen.

What Trina Means

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.

You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.

You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.

You have the classic "Type A" personality.

What's Your Name's Hidden Meaning?

I found this on a blog Ruined Art and thought it would be fun to give it a try too. Some things don't register but some things definately do. Give it a try and see what your name means.

This is the result of my attempt at the Shinning Stone background Technique. Trish Bee Challenged the Next Generations Stampers group to use this technique as the first entry in our Background Techniques Sketchbook.

Shinning Stones

I used some scrap glossy I had in a drawer so my backgrounds are all 3.75 square. for the two darker ones I brayered Kaleidacolor Calypso and caribbean sea and for the pinkish one I found a rainbow stamp pad from Stamp Francisco at the bottom of my ink pad drawer. I like all of them. I think of the darker ones I made my Pearl Ex Paint a little too thin but it still worked. I either painted or splattered it on and then using a paper towel along with a heat gun, dabbed the canvas. This is part of a background techniques challenge from Trish at Next Generation Stampers.

For the Love of Art

Artist Circle Tag Book

Here are my completed tags for the challenge on the Artist Circle group. How fun was that. This blue one if my favorite, Simple. I had fun making the charm hanging of it with shrink plastic.
